I'm The You
By: Melidona Haiebieto
Hey,
Remember me?
Yeah,
You.
Not the people behind you,
You.
I haven’t heard from you
In quite awhile
Do you even remember
Who I am?
We used to be together a lot,
Before it happened
You know,
The thing they call puberty.
I’m everything you once were,
Before the imaginary war,
That you keep fighting,
Inside your head.
You thought you killed me off,
With all these thoughts,
They’ve poisoned you with.
Now that has been said,
Do you remember me now?
I’m that other kid that used to pick on you,
The kid you would in turn give grief,
That little voice that you would hear,
Telling you what you should do,
And what you shouldn’t.
To keep you on the path,
Onto which you should be on,
Don’t you understand?
I’m the you,
You’re supposed to be.
The true you,
That little voice they call your conscious,
The one the others like to drone out.
I’m merely the you,
Your were meant to be.
I’m your future,
Wrapped up in a package,
Trying to keep you from making,
The same mistake,
That we once made.
Oh well,
The best way to know not to touch the fire,
Is the get burned.

there are two types of artists; those who create an ideal world through their art and those who portray the world the way they see
I may have a pretty twisted view on the world but I preach the raw truth, the question is can you handle it?

Im free to be me,
But only if I do so quietly,
Oppressively,
Living in my own insanity,

If you let me I could,
I'd show you how to build your fences,
Set restrictions, separate from the world.
The constant battle that you hate to fight,
Just blame the limelight.
